CAMPHORA OFFICINALIS a most possible Homoeopathic Prophylaxis of COVID-19.

1. INTRODUCTION
The COVID-19 pandemic in India is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first case of COVID-19 in India, which originated from China, was reported on 30 January 2020. India currently has the largest number of confirmed cases in Asia,[1] and has the third highest number of confirmed cases in the world after the United states and Brazil[2] With the number of total confirmed cases breaching the 100,000 mark on 19 May, 200,000 on 3 June, [3][4] and 1,000,000 confirmed cases on 17 July 2020. It is suggested that even though patients of all ages are susceptible to this disease, individuals developing critical illness were older with greater number of co morbid conditions.
2. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF COVID-19
In a timeline that reaches the present day, an epidemic of cases with unexplained low respiratory infections detected in Wuhan, the largest metropolitan area in China's Hubei province, was first reported to the WHO Country Office in China, on December 31, 2019. Published literature can trace the beginning of symptomatic individuals back to the beginning of December 2019. As they were unable to identify the causative agent, these first cases (n=29) were classified as "pneumonia of unknown aetiology." On February 11, 2020, the WHO Director-General, Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that the disease caused by this new COV was a "COVID-19," which is the acronym of "coronavirus disease 2019". In a meeting on January 30, 2020, per the International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005), the outbreak was declared by the WHO a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) as it had spread to 18 countries with four countries reporting human-to-human transmission. An additional landmark occurred on February 26, 2020, as the first case of the disease, not imported from China, was recorded in the United States (US). WHO raised the threat to the COV epidemic to the "very high" level, on February 28, 2020. On March 11, as the number of COVID-19 cases outside China has increased 13 times and the number of countries involved has tripled with more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries and over 4,000 deaths, WHO declared the COVID-19 a pandemic.[5]
3. SPREAD OF COVID -19 IN DELHI
The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Indian capital Delhi was reported on 2 March 2020. Delhi has the third highest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic in India after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The total of infected people reported as on 15 July 2020 is 116,993 consisting of 3,487 deaths and 95,699 recovery.[6]
On 22 March, Delhi observed a 14-hour voluntary public curfew named Janata curfew along with 75 district in India at the directive from PM,[7] prior to his order of nationwide lockdown for 21 days from 24 March 2020.[7]
Thousands of migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar gathered in Anand Vihar Bus Station on 29 March 2020. [7] More than 3000 people from a religious gathering in Nizamuddin Markaz Mosque in Nizamuddin West area were quarantined after suspected contact with infected people. 1300 Tablighi Zamat was found gathered, including foreigners in Markaz.[8]
It was also reported that air quality index of Delhi improved on 28 March 2020 after the lockdown and reduced vehicular movements.[9]
4. PREVENTION THROUGH HOMOEOPATHY
The preventive aspect of Homoeopathy is well known, and historically, Homoeopathy has reportedly been used for prevention during the epidemics of cholera, Spanish influenza, yellow fever, scarlet fever, diphtheria, typhoid etc. The approach to prevention in Homoeopathy is two-pronged. Prevention through Homoeopathy, can either be met through Genus Epidemicus, which means a remedy which is found to be curative in the majority of cases of the same disease is also the most likely preventive for that disease; or through nosodes (medicine prepared from biological material of a disease). The former is identified through observation of several cases of an epidemic disease, and analysing the symptomatology of those cases for the most indicated medicine. This medicine is considered to be the preventive medicine for the ongoing epidemic of that disease. The latter, on the other hand, once prepared through homoeopathic procedure, is considered a preventive for the disease it is prepared from, regardless of the overall presentation of that disease, which happens to change from time to time. There are distinct advantages if prevention by Homoeopathy could be made possible. These include reduced financial burden, safer means for prevention and easier storage and administration. However, establishing the preventive use of Homeopathy in public health setting is a challenge. High quality safety and pre-clinical studies, as well as robust clinical research is required to be undertaken for establishing role of Homoeopathy in epidemics.
5. CAMPHORA AS A PREVENTIVE IN COVID -19 PANDEMIC
As this SARS COV 2 (COVID 19) is a novel virus and the finding of CAMPHORA 1M as ‘Genus Epidemicus’ has also came as a novel achievement for Humanity in Homoeopathy. In Primary Survey in the Red Zone (COVID-19 affected area) we found that the fear of being alone, fear of death, fear of being isolated, desire to hide, blame others, restlessness, Icy coldness of the whole body, Chill, Hypoxia etc.symptoms are commonly noticed in general in the area. It guides us to distribute CAMPHORA in the area as a prophylactic medicine to prevent Covid-19. We also received information based on practical clinical experience from various reliable Homoeopaths from abroad i.e. Iran, Italy, Romania, France, USA, UK etc.& Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad(Maharashtra) from Dr. Rajan Sankaran (a world renowned Homoeopath, Researcher & Author) that the CAMPHORA 1M is best acting as a preventive for COVID-19 in the masses in the affected areas.
After analysis of studies, observations & experiences it was decided to use CAMPHORA 1M as a Homoeopathic Prophylaxis to control & prevent COVID 19 in the allotted area in Delhi.
6. ALLOTMENT OF CONTAINMENT ZONE
After the advisory and guidelines by Directorate of AYUSH, Govt. of NCT, Delhi to use homoeopathic medicine as a prophylactic to boost immunity of COVID- 19 patients, we under banner of Health Education Art Life Foundation (HEAL) decided to distribute homeopathic medicine as a prophylaxis (CAMPHORA 1000CH) in highly sensitive containment zone in west Delhi i.e. Nihal Vihar & Tilak Nagar. We had covered more than 36,000 people in K-2 Block & nearby area in Nihal Vihar and Tilak Nagar Districts in New Delhi. We had distributed CAMPHORA 1000CH to almost all residents in the containment Zone.

7. KEYNOTES OF CAMPHORA FOR SELECTING AS A PROPHYLECXIS.
Dr. Samuel Hahnemann Says, “The action of Camphor is very puzzling and difficult even in the healthy organism because its primary action, very frequently alternates and becomes intermixed with the vital reactions (after effects) of the organisms. On this accounts, it is often difficult to determine what belongs to the vital reactions of the body and what, to the alternating effect due to the primary action of the Camphor.”[10]

10. METHODOLOGY
Group of Homeopathic physicians and volunteers from HEAL visited the containment zone with proper safety guidelines from 17th to 22nd May 2020 in Nihal Vihar & from 10th to 22nd June 2020 in Tilak Nagar .
With the help of Local youths, social leaders, Municipal Corporator, MLA the preventive medicine was distributed to the families in the areas.
Record was maintained with the preliminary data of the families, their addresses and their contact number.
Aim: The aim was to evaluate the prophylactic effect of Camphora 1M in Covid-19 pandemic.
Inclusion Criteria: All genders, various age groups along with underlying co-morbid conditions like DM II, HTN, Asthma, CKD etc. and COVID-19 negative persons are considered in data collection & in distribution of Homoeopathic Preventive Medicine in Asymptomatic high risked/exposed people.
Exclusion Criteria: Infants & below two years old childrens were excluded in data collection & medicine distribution.
Primary Outcome: Reduced incidence of Covid-19 infection in the population of areas where people has received Camphora 1M.
11. FOLLOW UP
Nihal Vihar & Tilak Nagar (Delhi)
Our team of doctors did the follow up of all these people (on random basis) up to six weeks and found there is no new case/s of COVID-19 has been reported from these containment areas.
We had enquire about any other preventive measures done or made in this area earlier by any other agency in last two months & found there is not any other such activities was done.
In my coherent observation on 36,064 sensitive people of Nihal Vihar (K2 Block) & Tilak Nagar declared Red Zone in COVID -19 affected area in New Delhi, where we distributed CAMPHORA 1M as a preventive medicine and found no further incidence of COVID-19 positive cases in six weeks. We monitor the area by calling & personal visit & found there is no further case reported.
People were convinced to follow the basic preventive guide lines issued by Govt. of Delhi & WHO to maintain physical distancing, regular cleaning of their hands, wearing a cotton mask and also to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement etc.
We are regular in contact with local activist & leaders and also did cross check the situations in the area. As on date 25th June, 2020 the situation of COVID- 19 prevalence in Nihal Vihar & Tilak Nagar (Delhi) is normal.
12. CONCLUSION
Homeopathy has tremendous capacity to confront challenges posed to Public Health time to time. We had cured the fear and panic of infectious diseases such as Bird Flu, SARS and Swine Flu in past through Homeopathy. In the present global panic situation of Covid -19, I found homoeopathic prophylactic is more effective and easy especially for the masses.
In Nihal Vihar & Tilak Nagar area of New Delhi where the population is dense & mostly small businessman & workers are residing in clusters. Before distribution of Homoeopathic prophylactic medicine we did survey & collected primary data of COVID-19 Infection in the area. We covered mostly the sensitive population in the area & distributed CAMPHORA 1M in globules in one dram (5gm.) crystal philes. We monitor the area by calling & personal visit & found there is no further case reported. People were convinced to follow the basic preventive guide lines issued by Govt. of Delhi & WHO as to maintain physical distancing, regular cleaning of their hands, wearing a cotton mask and also to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement etc.
We are in contact with local activist & leaders and also did cross check the situations in the area. As on date 25th September, 2020 the situation of COVID- 19 prevalence in Nihal Vihar & Tilak Nagar (Delhi) is really normal.
